Title: Public Grants Manager
Location: ACE Office or Remote Options Available (ACE offices)
Reports to: Director of Grants Administration and Compliance
Schedule/Hours: Flexible Schedule (Monday - Friday); additional hours as needed
Compensation: Competitive package with benefits that include paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, 401K, and health, dental, vision and other supplemental insurance.
Status: Full Time Salaried, Exempt
Position Summary: The ACE Public Grants Manager will be responsible for Identifying public and quasi-private funding opportunities and develop competitive proposals and submissions in support of national and regional program priorities. In collaboration with other ACE staff, program, finance and partnership development, this role plans, researches, positions, creates and writes proposals of significance (primarily at the $100,000+ level) that align with the ACE's strategic vision at both the national and regional level.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: (80%)
- Consistently plan, position, and write successful proposals-both national and regional-at the six and seven figure level to ensure that ACE is well positioned to secure public and quasi-private funding opportunities.
- Identify, analyze and prioritize funding opportunities through research on grants.gov, other websites and sources, and via referrals from staff and partners.
- Conduct extensive research for potential public and private funding/grant opportunities and vet opportunities with leadership and key stakeholders.
- Develop and sustain comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the breadth and depth of all programs and priorities to inform the public grant strategy and identify funding opportunities that align with mission and program objectives.
- Represent ACE in meetings with funders and potential funders.
- Lead team of internal and external stakeholders through proposal development and submission process by coordinating work plans, developing timelines, and identifying specific roles and responsibilities to ensure submission of complete and accurate proposals within grant deadlines.
- Manage complex grant development process, incorporating knowledge of relevant content areas, priorities, and proposal requirements to ensure that proposed strategies meet Community Programs needs while complying with grant guidelines.
- Lead development of program reports required for public and private grants by tracking when they are due and working with Program, Finance and Business Development staff, as well as others, to ensure compliance. Ensure that compliance issues are effectively communicated with program staff.
- Utilize program/partnership database to analyze and track data, for both partnership and philanthropic purposes and to ensure funding is used as intended.
- Prepare financial information, including budgets and financial reports, in collaboration with partnership, program, finance and other staff.
Supplemental Job Responsibilities: (20%)
- Identify, track and report to Program staff information on relevant public grants awarded to other organizations as leads for potential partner or program development.
- Serve as the grant writing lead and provide grant writing assistance for other projects as assigned.
- Other related duties as assigned; Responsibilities and tasks outlined are not exhaustive and may change as determined by ACE.
Performance Measures/Accountabilities:
- Support organizational alignment between program priorities and funding trends and opportunities by maintaining current knowledge of the public grants and conservation fields.
- Maintain, or grow, foundation revenue and program opportunities by ensuring the consistent and timely submission of successful, competitive proposals.
- Meet or exceed established revenue goals.
- Comprehensive management of grants received -flow of contracts, agreements, compliance issues and necessary certifications and other paperwork
- Identify new funding streams and communicate requirements and evaluation metrics to staff.
- Work collaboratively with Program team members and others to achieve revenue goals, demonstrate proactive approach to identifying funding opportunities.

Required Experience and Job Qualifications:
- 5+ years demonstrated experience in analyzing, developing and writing successful public grant proposals (federal, state, and/ or municipal).
- Bachelor's Degree is strongly preferred.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge of grants research and preparation process in support of non-profit organizational development
- Ability to use and maintain data integrity of public grants databases.
- Experience in budget analysis and development.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully prepare and manage reporting requirements for granting agencies.
- Excellent customer service skills, to include the ability to effectively follow up and follow through.
- Ability to prioritize and work on multiple deadline-driven grant proposals simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently as well as part of a team
- Facilitation skills for meetings and project management.
- Strong critical, analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing needs and priorities, including flexibility in work schedule to meet deadlines.
- Willingness to travel if needed (5%).

- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Valid driver's license, MVR and an insurable driving record
- Proficient in English
- Ability to pass a federal criminal background check
- Willing to abide by ACE Policy and Federal Drug Free workplace policies and laws. ACE reserves the right to drug test at any time.
Physical Demands, Work Environment and Working Conditions
Physical Demands: Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, carrying, using hands to handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, talks and hears. Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard/mouse and other routine office equipment. May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, climb stairs, and/or crouch.
Vision Requirements: Requires close, distance, peripheral and depth perception vision as well as the ability to focus.
Weight Lifted or Force Exerted: Frequently lifts up to 10 lbs., occasionally lifts up to 25 pounds.
Environmental: Moderate noise such as in a business office with equipment and light traffic.
Travel: This position requires some domestic travel (less than 5%).
