Starting Salary: $35,000 - $40,000/yr.
Travel: Domestic Travel

Position Summary: ACE Emerging Professionals in Conservation (EPIC) Program is seeking to hire a full-time Member Coordinator that serves as the main program-related point of contact for corps members and, in collaboration with the Division Director, fulfills agreement compliance and reporting needs. Projects supported are diverse and range from invasive species control; riparian and wetland restoration; recreation and trail maintenance; wildlife monitoring; facilities maintenance; fisheries and hydrology management; ecology; landscape level planning; timber; outreach and visitor services; and other USFS priorities. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills with the ability to maintain and effectively support a complex array of projects at a national scale.
  • Serve as main point of contact for member inquiries on all project-related aspects of the placements including: travel, training, vehicles, budget, special uniforms, safety, PPE, etc. 
  • Support the Recruitment Specialist to fulfill all recruitment needs. The MC will also recruit for select positions.  
  • Serve as the secondary project-related point of contact for USFS and other public/private partners and lead complex, multi-faceted, inter and intra agency projects involving sister ACE Programs as required.
  • Assist the Division Director with Cooperative Agreements and partner/project level budget development, tracking and reconciliation as well as reporting, as time allows.
  • Be available and responsive to mentor members through the hiring, placement, and career placement cycle.
  • Support the USFS team, and ACE, with additional tasks as needed.
  • Become proficient with data management systems utilized by ACE on all stages of Cooperative Agreement or contract implementation.
  • Support the Division Director in developing agency partnership opportunities and program development through on-site visits and efficient and effective communication, as well as grant management and development.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and enthusiasm to support workforce diversity in accordance with ACE policy.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree (or higher) in natural or cultural resource management or related fields or have sufficient professional experience to support our nation's emerging professional resource management workforce and project partners.
  • Experience with similar corps-oriented, non-profit organizations, land-based federal agencies such as those under the US Department of Agriculture, or other federal or state agencies or non-governmental conservation organizations.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills with the ability to maintain and effectively support a complex array of projects at a national scale.
  • Strong data management skills.
  • Ability to function as an efficient, effective and adaptable team member displaying professional-level proficiencies in both hard and soft skills.
  • Preferably some familiarity or previous experience with AmeriCorps programming and its grant compliance.
  • Knowledge of the federal grants and agreements processes preferable, as is contract experience.
  • This position may require extensive seasonal domestic travel.
  • Strong computer management skills including experience with online personnel databases, iOS, Google Docs, Excel, MS Office, and Adobe Suite software.
  • Must be flexible, with the ability to work well as part of a highly mobile, highly functional team.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Must enforce the use of appropriate safety procedures in all tasks.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and motor vehicle record that meets ACE's standards.

Physical Demands, Work Environment and Working Conditions: 

The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

 

  • Physical Demands: Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, carrying. Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard/mouse and other routine office equipment. May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, climb stairs and/or crouch. Field work outside occasionally required; walking, hiking, bending, lifting, digging.
  • Vision Requirements: Requires close, distance, peripheral and depth perception vision as well as the ability to focus.
  • Weight Lifted or Force Exerted: Frequently lifts up to 10 lbs., occasionally lifts up to 25 pounds.
  • Environmental: Mainly indoor conditions, some occasional outdoor conditions. Indoor air quality is good and temperature is controlled.
  • Noise Environment: Moderate noise such as in a business office with equipment and light traffic.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel long distances, spend multiple weeks or more, away from the SLC, Utah office. Frequent travel to various National Forests throughout the year, and especially in the summer months. Travel is often a combination of camping and hotel accommodations.  

 

Job Benefits and Compensation:

  • Estimated salary range is dependent on experience; $35,000-$40,000/yr.
  • Extremely flexible and dynamic full-time work schedule.
  • Semi-regular travel to National Forests throughout the country and U.S. territories.

  • Compensation depending on experience; level of agency experience, especially USFS, will be a strong consideration.
