American Conservation Experience, a Non-Profit Conservation Corps, provides professional development opportunities for young adults seeking to enhance their career experience. ACE's Emerging Professionals in Conservation (EPIC) program has a national reputation for providing young adults and recent graduates with hands-on, professional development individual placement opportunities to work alongside and under the guidance of agency mentors as they apply their knowledge of resource management on their path to becoming the next generation of resource and land managers. The ACE EPIC Bureau of Land Management (BLM) program hosts over 100 members in individual placement projects each year in over 30 field and state offices. Individual placement projects supported are diverse and range from invasive species control; riparian and wetland restoration; recreation and trail maintenance; wildlife monitoring; facilities maintenance; fisheries and hydrology management; ecology; landscape level planning; timber; outreach and visitor services; and other BLM program priorities.
Position Title: Member Manager
Location: The ACE EPIC program is based in Salt Lake City, UT. ACE has offices in Salt Lake City, Utah; Sacramento, CA; Ridgecrest, CA; Hurricane, UT; Flagstaff, AZ and Asheville, NC; this position can be remote, but an ideal candidate will reside near an existing ACE office in the Western US.
Department/Division: EPIC, Bureau of Land Management (BLM)
Status: Regular Full-Time (Exempt)
Schedule/Hours: Full-time. Flexible Schedule with varying shifts; 40 hours/week with additional hours as needed
Reports To: EPIC Division Director (Bureau of Land Management & US Forest Service Division)
Travel: Yes, moderate local/regional travel required; semi-regular travel to BLM public lands and offices throughout the country (mostly in the Western States)
Compensation: Full-Time, 40 hours/week within a flexible schedule. Competitive starting annualized pay range of $45,000 - $50,000 dependent on experience. Position Summary:
The Member Manager for the EPIC BLM division is an office-based position and works closely with all staff members and volunteers (Individual Placement AmeriCorps and Non-AmeriCorps members) within the ACE EPIC BLM division and program. The Member Manager leads the ACE EPIC BLM recruitment efforts and serves as the main project-related point of contact for both members and BLM partners. The Member Manager will be responsible for engaging with candidates and ACE Individual Placement members from recruitment, during their position, and beyond, ensuring they have a positive, engaging, and worthwhile experience with ACE. The Member Manager will also coordinate internally with ACE and BLM program staff, as required.
As the lead for all ACE EPIC BLM recruitment and member management needs, the Member Manager will frequently interact with ACE's members, project partners, other divisions as well as the general public and as such is expected to maintain a professional demeanor, positive attitude, and willingness to act as an ambassador of ACE's program at all times. The Member Manager will need to be flexible, adaptable, and enthusiastic while working in a fast-paced office environment with regular visits to field operation locations. The Member Manager's three primary responsibility areas include:
1) Individual Placement member outreach, recruitment, and onboarding
2) Individual Placement member management and partner support
3) Administrative program compliance.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills with the ability to maintain and effectively support a complex array of projects at a national scale.
- Serve as main point of contact for member inquiries on all project-related aspects of the member's position including: travel, training, vehicles, budget, special uniforms, safety, PPE, etc.
- Oversees all aspects of member management (recruitment, placement, and management of members). Responsible for ensuring members are provided a positive and engaging experience, as well as performing to ACE standards.
- Serve as the secondary project-related point of contact for BLM and other public/private partners and lead complex projects involving sister ACE Programs as required.
- Assist the Division Director with Cooperative Agreements and partner/project level budget development, tracking and reconciliation as well as reporting, as time allows.
- Be available and responsive to mentor members through the hiring, placement and career placement cycle.
- Support the BLM team, and ACE, with additional tasks as needed.
- Become proficient with data management systems utilized by ACE on all stages of Cooperative Agreement or contract implementation.
- Support the Division Director in developing agency partnership opportunities and program development through on-site visits and efficient and effective communication, as well as potential for supporting with grant management and development.
- Demonstrate an understanding and enthusiasm to support workforce diversity in accordance with ACE policy.

Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Must have a strong comfort level speaking on the phone
- Attention to detail
- Basic comfort level with public speaking
- Familiarity with basic office practices, file management, records maintenance
- Must maintain a positive, constructive, and flexible work environment conducive to team dynamics
- Willingness to travel locally, work occasional weekends and attend community events.
- Strong skills in leadership, interpersonal communication, organization, management, conflict resolution and motivating others
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills with the ability to maintain and effectively support a complex array of projects
- Computer skills required including intermediate knowledge of Excel and Google Suites, and professional email etiquette; Strong data management skills.
- Ability to function as an efficient, effective and adaptable team member displaying professional-level proficiencies in both technical and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to receive and provide constructive feedback.
- Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to understand and follow ACE systems and processes.
- Proven ability to work independently and be a positive, contributing member of a group.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate. BA/BS degree from an accredited college/university preferred.
- 1-2 years of previous experience with volunteer, outreach or AmeriCorps member management and support, preferably in a Conservation Corps.
- Experience working with AmeriCorps program compliance, administration, and management.
Other Requirements:
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Valid driver's license and an insurable driving record
- Proficient in English
- Ability to pass a federal criminal background check
- Willing to abide by ACE Policy and Federal Drug Free workplace policies and laws. ACE reserves the right to drug test at any time.
Physical Demands, Work Environment and Working Conditions
- Physical Demands: Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, carrying, using hands to handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, talks and hears. Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard/mouse and other routine office equipment. May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, climb stairs, and/or crouch.
- Vision Requirements: Requires close, distance, peripheral and depth perception vision as well as the ability to focus.
- Weight Lifted or Force Exerted: Frequently lifts up to 10 lbs., occasionally lifts up to 25 pounds.
- Environmental: Moderate noise such as in a business office with equipment and light traffic.
- Travel: This position requires domestic travel.
