Remuneration: $36,400, with health and dental benefits beginning after 90 days.

Organization Background: Based in Flagstaff, Arizona with additional branches in St. George, UT, Santa Cruz, CA, and Asheville, NC American Conservation Experience (ACE) is a non-profit Conservation Corps dedicated to providing professional development and outdoor job skills training to individuals (18-35) interested in careers related to conservation and land management. As a member organization of the 21st Century Conservation Service Corps (21CSC), ACE is dedicated to developing present and future generations of environmental stewards while protecting and restoring public and tribal lands throughout the nation.
ACE is a dynamic organization with the reputation for providing crews to safely and economically implement technically complex and physically demanding conservation projects for the National Park Service, US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, US Fish and Wildlife Service, and numerous state and local land management partners. ACE's leadership team is seeking an enthusiastic, driven and service oriented individual dedicated to providing opportunities and mentorship for youth interested in protecting and restoring our nation's public lands.
Schedule: This is a full time position that requires a flexible 40 hour/week schedule. Occasional evening, weekend (possibly including Sunday) and/or holiday work will be necessary. Occasional travel may be necessary and/or required.
Program Background: ACE provides outdoor, professional development opportunities and job-skills training to young adults interested in pursuing careers related to conservation and environmental stewardship. ACE offers rewarding and diverse programs such as the Conservation Corps and Conservation Volunteer crew programs. ACE crews support land management agencies by accomplishing various conservation projects such as trail construction/maintenance, dry stone masonry, ecological restoration, fuels reduction, and fence installation. ACE crews are generally composed of 8 12 individuals (ages 18-35) and typically work 80 hours over 8 to 9 consecutive days in outdoor settings and remote wilderness areas.
Position Description: The AmeriCorps Program Manager's primary responsibilities will be to assist in development and maintenance of an AmeriCorps Program that is efficient, effective, and compliant with ACE's State and National AmeriCorps grants. The AmeriCorps Program Manager will be responsible for ensuring grant compliance and timely administration for the Southwest Division's three AmeriCorps grants.
AmeriCorps grant requirements are detailed and exacting. The success or failure of any AmeriCorps program depends largely on the thoroughness and diligence of the Program Manager and staff, as well as their ability to adhere to stringent reporting requirements.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- eGrants and database management, including maintaining Member files
- Facilitate AmeriCorps Member enrollment, mid-term check-ins, and exiting procedures
- Development and maintenance of AmeriCorps orientation materials
- Member support
- Frequent reporting, including compiling data and report writing
- Internal auditing and preparation for AmeriCorps programmatic audits
- Performing Sex Offender and Criminal History Checks
- Processing reimbursements
- Maintain a highly organized filing and archive system for long-term record keeping and reporting
- Provide grant oversight to ensuring that the office stays compliant with AmeriCorps grant regulations
- Other office duties, as necessary
The AmeriCorps Program Manager will be supervised by the Southwest Associate Director, but will work in close partnership with the entire Southwest team in Flagstaff. S/he will also work closely with ACE's National AmeriCorps Program Manager located in Flagstaff, AZ to ensure programmatic continuity.
Qualifications: This is a dynamic position that requires a varied skill set. It is imperative that the individual is extremely organized, is able to communicate program compliance needs concisely and positively, enjoys organizing and managing data, and a passion for AmeriCorps and its mission. The ideal candidate will possess a unique combination of attributes, including some management background in either the non-profit and/or government field.
A BA/BS degree (or higher) in non-profit management, accounting, business management, computer science, international affairs, communications, or other related educational background is important, however, individuals with Natural Resource degrees who have a strong managerial skillset are also encouraged to apply. The candidate must philosophically understand the importance of professional development in concert with achieving higher education.
Required:
- Past volunteer experience with a youth conservation corps or AmeriCorps Program
- Detail-oriented
- Passion for national service and AmeriCorps programs
- Ability to communicate effectively with Members, supervisors, and colleagues
- Ability to work independently, taking initiative to complete position duties with minimal guidance at times
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, and satisfied with working on an iOS platform
- Possess an understanding of information technology
- Have the ability to multi-task and oversee an AmeriCorps program of 85-100 actively serving members.
- Ability to maintain professional working relationships and be willing to represent ACE in a professional, positive, and enthusiastic manner
- Willingness to undergo a federal criminal background investigation
Preferred:
- A BA or BS degree in a conservation related field, non-profit management, business management, international affairs, communications, computer science or other related educational background is strongly preferred
- Advanced knowledge and/or experience using Excel and creating and managing other Databases such as FileMaker Pro
- Experience working with diverse communities
- Familiarity and comfort managing and streamlining numerous databases
- Past experience working with AmeriCorps grant management and reporting, accounting, IT, human resources, social media, recruitment, and communications
- Experience managing an eGrants account
