Job Title: Assistant Logistics Coordinator

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Position Duration:  May 6, 2019 (or sooner) October 4, 2019. If the candidate is currently an AmeriCorps Member, the candidate must successfully complete their AmeriCorps term before May 1, 2019.

 

Position Description:

Based in southern Utah, the ACE Mountain West Region is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Assistant Logistics Coordinator to ensure our crews are prepared for excellence on our projects. The Assistant Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that the tools, equipment, and supplies required for our crews are in excellent condition as well as being responsible for food shopping and packing for our crews and assisting with vehicle fleet inventory. A high level to detail as well as excellent organizational skills are mandatory for success in this position.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Inventory and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Procure quality, economic provisions, equipment, and supplies for Mountain West field crews.
  • Responsible for menu planning and food packing for all field crews to ensure that:
    • Quality and healthy food is provided for all Corps Crews and
    • The warehouse remains clean, organized and well stocked.
  • Maintain and restock first aid and personal protective equipment supply stocks.
  • Assist with planning and managing project rig-ups and de-rigs (when crews prepare to leave for and return from 8-day field projects).
  • Ensure organization and cleanliness of tool and equipment shop.
  • Assist with inventory and maintenance of vehicles and trailers.
  • Fosters a culture and environment that positions our members for success and ensures that ACE is a program of choice for members.
  • Perform other duties and related functions as needed or assigned.

Management of Food Provisions:

  • Prepare recipes and ingredient lists for each ACE Mountain West crew departing for project.
  • Purchase food within budget parameters for ACE Mountain West crews and organize food in dry boxes and coolers.
  • Ensure safe, OSHA compatible storage protocols of non-perishable food and cook-set items in a clean and organized manner.
  • Track food purchase costs, waste, and member satisfaction with meals, broken down by crew, duration, and crew size.
  • Oversee operation of sorting left over food as it returns from project, ensuring that non-perishables are restocked and coolers are clean, hygienic, and maintained.
  • Track local sales and stockpile sale items in bulk where applicable.
  • Regular communication with Logistics Manager, Field Operations Manager, Project Managers, and Crew Leaders to learn of weekly shopping needs for crews.

Project Supplies and Logistics:

  • Assist Logistics Manager with the operation and organization of our warehouse where all our project tools and equipment are stored. Keep facility clean and organized.
  • Keep inventory of tools and equipment.
  • Oversee tool maintenance and ensure crews have tools in excellent condition before taking them in the field.
  • Assist Crew leaders and Project Managers in preparing crews for projects.
  • Inventory and maintain stocks of personal protective equipment: gloves, hardhats, glasses and earplugs.
  • Organize a storage system for first aid supplies and then maintain a stock of all first aid items so that the Crew Leaders can refill their first aid kits.
  • Maintain stocks of cleaning supplies for vehicles.
  • Meet crews when they return from projects and ensure tools and equipment are returned to the appropriate places.

Vehicles, Trailers and Facilities Maintenance:

  • Assist Logistics Manager with regular maintenance of vehicles and upkeep of vehicle logs.
  • Assist with keeping our staff housing, warehouse and office facilities clean and tidy.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with ACE staff, corps members, and the general public.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to understand and follow ACE systems and processes.
  • Ability to demonstrate prudent purchasing practices.
  • Proficient with basic computer software (google docs, word, excel, etc)
  • Ability to create healthy, cost effective meal plans for crews.
  • Ability to break meals into subsequent ingredients and estimate quantities to satisfy the planned meals.
  • Skill in the use and maintenance/repair of trail hand tools, including: Mcleods, picks,pick mattocks, shovels, loppers, etc.
  • Skill in the use and basic repair of restoration hand and power tools, including: chainsaws, brush cutters, backpack sprayers, and other related restoration tools.
  • Considerable knowledge of safety procedures applied to field operations and equipment use.
  • Ability to adapt to surrounding work conditions and schedules that may change frequently.
  • Skill in organization and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills to professionally interact with project partners, ACE staff, and crew leaders.
  • Must maintain a positive, constructive work environment conducive to team dynamics
  • Must enforce the use of appropriate safety procedures in all tasks
  • Must maintain optimal physical health, including a drug-free lifestyle
  • Must be flexible and possess a high work ethic

  • Ability to perform a wide variety of manual labor, for extended periods of time in adverse and changing weather conditions; Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Must be willing to submit to a criminal background check and meet drug testing requirements prior to hire.

Compensation: $14.00/hour within a flexible schedule, Seasonal May October, not benefits eligible
