Housing Coordinator - South Lake Tahoe, CA

 Job Title:   Housing Coordinator - Sierra Region 

  Exemption Status:   Non-Exempt

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and hours are varied but will typically include:

  • Welcoming new members to the housing and conducting/performing orientation tours.
  • Organizing the rooming list for arriving and departing corps members.
  • Keeping up-to-date with local information and events and informing house members.
  • Being on hand to support and mentor corps members.
  • Ensuring the alcohol and drug free housing rules are observed by the corps members and staff.
  • Timely submission of city paperwork (reports, permit application(s), etc.).
  • Liaising with Region Director about local contractors regarding renovations and repairs.
  • Maintaining the outside areas in clean, safe and professional manner
  • Timely and accurate reporting of accounts.
  • Washing the communal laundry.
  • Supervising the weekly cleaning parties.
  • Monitoring the tidiness of shared bedrooms.
  • Cleaning the common areas daily.
  • Maintaining an annual cleaning and maintenance schedule.
  • Maintaining safe, clean, and secure housing - fire alarm checks, appliance checks, standards of hygiene, secure property, computer virus checks, restocking first aid kit(s), etc.
  • Regular communication with Region Director to learn of weekly shopping needs for crews and housing.
  • Assisting crew leaders and coordinators with vehicle maintenance and upkeep of vehicle logs.
  • Assisting Logistics Coordinator  with food shopping for crews

 

  Required Duties and Responsibilities:

The Sierra Region offers corps members and staff housing, based in South Lake Tahoe CA.  ACE is recruiting a highly motivated and detail oriented year-round housing manager to oversee the day-to-day running of the property.  The ACE Sierra property is very unique and includes 17 rooms and can sleep more than 40 people, and has several communal living areas.  ACE staff and members share cooking duties along with other residential chores. Living on-site is required and private accommodations are provided free to the Housing Coordinator.

During the field season, we operate 6-8 crews out of our Tahoe based housing, which perform fuels reduction, habitat restoration and trail maintenance/construction projects throughout the Sierra. Providing a safe, clean and healthy environment for the corps members and staff to come home to is essential to the success of our projects and the well-being of our corps members and staff. The Housing Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the overall organizational success.

In the winter, we partner with Kirkwood Mountain Resort to offer their employees housing as well. The Housing Coordinator will oversee this partnership and provide the same level of excellence as they would with ACE Staff members.

 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.  

The Housing Manager must have the following qualities:

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to change.
  • Skilled at planning for, and managing large groups of people.
  • Good motivational skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with corps members, colleagues, the general public, community groups and city representatives.
  • Able to comprehend and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Capable of understanding and following ACE systems and processes.
  • Good numeracy, computer, and written skills.
  • Knowledgeable about general maintenance and home improvements.
  • Methodical in approach to maintenance and cleaning schedule.
  • Previous experience in reservations/housing management advantageous.
  • Experience of environmental conservation skills, basic environmental education, and outdoor living/camping skills are not essential, but preferred.

 

 Essential Functions Specific to the Job:

  • Must maintain a positive, constructive work environment conducive to team dynamics.
  • Must be flexible and possess a high work ethic.
  • Must be able to create and maintain budgets and be fiscally prudent
  • Must maintain timely, effective communication with crew, partners, contractors and supervisors.
  • Must enforce the use of appropriate safety procedures in all tasks.
  • Must maintain physical health, including a drug-free lifestyle.

         Must possess a valid driver's license. 

         Must submit to a criminal background check prior to hire.  Persons convicted of a felony are not eligible for appointment to this classification.

Compensation:  $14 - 16, hourly
