Social Media and Content Specialist
American Conservation Experience (ACE) is a dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to providing rewarding environmental service opportunities that harness the idealism and energy of a volunteer labor force to help restore America's public lands. ACE has a national reputation for providing exceptional training and support to enable crews to safely and economically implement technically complex and physically demanding conservation projects for the US Forest Service, BLM, National Park Service, USFWS and numerous state and local land management partners.
Job Title: Social Media and Content Specialist
Location: Flexible: ACE Office (ACE offices) or Remote Options Available
Department/Division: Organizational Culture
Status: Regular Full-Time, Salaried (Exempt)
Schedule/Hours: Full-time, 40 hours/weeks with additional hours as needed. Typical work hours of 8:30am-5:00pm (Monday - Friday) local time with some adjustment expected to accommodate specific projects and program needs. Some evening and weekend hours may be occasionally required.
Reports To: Senior Director of Organizational Culture
Travel: Less than 10%

Position Summary:
The Social Media and Content Specialist spearheads ACE's engagement with the public through the creation and cultivation of content strategies on our social media platforms (TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn). Their primary duties include: creating, writing, and editing social media posts for multiple ACE social media platforms; planning and implementing social media campaigns to build a genuine online presence; and using data to find new and creative ways to engage diverse audiences from different backgrounds in the work that ACE does. The successful candidate will build an online community of diverse people interested in learning more about the outdoors. The successful candidate will market the ACE experience through all social media accounts, manage relationships with remote team members, is a social media fanatic, and is a strong writer with a passion for becoming one of ACE's key voices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Creates, implements, and optimizes the ACE social strategy and provides bi-weekly status reports.
- Creates, writes, and edits social media posts for multiple ACE social media platforms.
- Acts as the voice of the brand by posting and responding to social media content.
- Brings new ideas to the table based on insights from our online community.
- Creates graphics, animations, and identifies images to ensure ACE social media content is engaging and informative.
- Helps ACE to clearly identify its intended audiences and create/implement strategies to engage those audiences. Strives to build authentic relationships and community through social channels.
- Builds and executes digital marketing campaigns to support the overall marketing and recruitment strategy of the organization.
- Analyzes and reports on a variety of metrics (reach, impressions, engagement, etc.) to improve methods and strategy. Researches evolving best practices and tools for reporting.
- Manages ongoing social media editorial calendar, maintaining a consistent voice across all channels. Produces content and schedules posts across all channels according to best practices and overall marketing and organizational strategy.
- Responds in a timely manner to messages and tags received via social media channels, including sensitive, member service matters.
- Attends various functions as needed (e.g., Division and sponsored community events, member projects, volunteer events, etc.) to provide 'live' content.
- Maintains accurate list of contacts for social media account tagging purposes. Identifies and establishes partner relationships with other organizations and influencers as they relate to social media.
- Collaborates with team members and other department heads to advance the role of social media with their operations.
- Keeps informed of evolving techniques and best practices for various social media platforms - including new trends and how to optimize a specific channel - product knowledge, communications and awareness of industry standards, competitors' practices, and regulatory and copyright considerations.
- Proactively identify any brand reputation threats by monitoring the social media. accounts and taking necessary steps to mitigate any problems or concerns.
- Remains cognizant of and adheres to ACE policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned and is required to assist during crisis management situations as appropriate.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or related area of study OR related experience.
- At least three (3) years practical, proven experience with social media marketing in a professional-setting (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn); and a proven ability to form and execute on creative concepts.
- Experience using social media management solutions preferred.
- A balance between strategic thinking and execution, and embrace a collaborative approach.
- A self-starter who proactively seeks solutions and engagement, has a passion to advance a brand's digital footprint.
- Proven ability to manage a brand or organization's social presence across platforms and successfully engage fans and followers.
- Excellent content and communication management skills, with outstanding attention to detail, and demonstrated expertise and creativity on differing social platforms.
- Strong time management skills: ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines. simultaneously and effectively either independently or on a team.
- Well-suited for working in a remote team environment.
- Eager to learn and take on new and varied responsibilities.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
- Strong and effective communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely. express ideas both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work in a remote administrative environment.

- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Valid driver's license and an insurable driving record.

- Ability to pass a federal criminal background check.

Physical Demands, Work Environment and Working Conditions
- Physical Demands: Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, using hands to handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, talks and hears. Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard/mouse and other office equipment. Required to stoop, kneel, climb stairs, and/or crouch.
- Vision Requirements: Requires close, distance, peripheral and depth perception vision as well as the ability to focus.
- Weight Lifted or Force Exerted: Frequently moves up to 10 lbs., occasionally moves up to 25 pounds.
- Environmental: Mainly indoor, office environment conditions; indoor air quality is good and temperature is controlled.
- Noise Environment: Moderate noise such as in a business office with equipment and light traffic.
- Travel: This position may require domestic travel.

Compensation: Starting annualized salary range of $43,000-$53,000 (40 hours/week for 52-weeks), depending on experience.
Medical/Health Benefits: ACE offers competitive medical and ancillary plans (health, mental health, dental, vision and other supplemental benefits). ACE Staff members are also eligible to participate in ACE's 403b retirement plan with a 1% employer contribution.
Holidays, Vacation, and Sick Time: As an ACE staff member, you will be eligible to accrue up to 80 hours of paid vacation time annually during your first two years of continuous employment, then it increases to 120 hours annually. ACE observes 13 paid annual holidays (floating holiday flexibility). Additionally, ACE full-time regular employees also receive paid additional holiday time for any normal work days that fall between the observed Christmas Day and New Years Day holidays. ACE provides 10 days (or 80 hours) of paid sick time annually.
